John Lormon specializes in environmental and land use law for the law firm of Procopio, Cory, Hargreaves & Savitch. He has extensive experience working with local and state government and regulatory agencies on permitting, entitlement, compliance, CEQA and enforcement matters. He is a member of the Scripps Institution of Oceanography’s Director’s Cabinet.

Mohsen Mortada is president and CEO
of Cole Engineering Group in Toronto, Canada.
Previously, he was the general manager of Middle East operations for  Arcadis, a leading global design & consultancy firm for natural and built assets. He serves on the board of Water for People.

Carl Nettleton is founder of OpenOceans Global, the past president of the National Coalition for Marine Conservation – Pacific Region and the former founding executive director of the San Diego Oceans Foundation. In those positions he energetically worked with government agencies, educational organizations, and ocean interests to develop collaborations and consensus to resolve ocean issues. He operates Nettleton Strategies LLC, a consulting firm specializing in resolving complex public policy and business issues.

Steve Peace serves on the Board of Directors of the San Diego Padres Baseball Team, Killer Tomatoes Entertainment, Inc., and the California Independent Voter Project. He is a member of the Scripps Institution of Oceanography’s Advisory Council. Steve served in the State Legislature from 1982 to 2002, representing one of the most diverse districts in California.

John Shean is a retired marketing executive for Major League Baseball and National Football League teams. From 2001 until his retirement, he served the San Diego Chargers as Vice President of Sales and Marketing, supervising all sales and marketing efforts for the Chargers, including the sale of suites, advertising, broadcast television and radio, and new media. Prior to his work with the Chargers, John was the Vice President of Sales for the NFL’s Arizona Cardinals from 1995-2000.

Peter Shaw has extensive worldwide experience in technology-based companies as a CEO/President, entrepreneur, venture capitalist, and board director. Peter has founded or co-founded five companies that led to successful acquisitions. He has served on the boards of more than 15 companies, both public and private, representing investors, assisting the CEO, or as an outside director. He has extensive worldwide experience in general management, business development, marketing and sales as well as mergers and acquisitions.

J. Scofield Hage, Chief Financial Officer

J. Scofield Hage is a third-generation San Diegan known for his banking and community activities. He has held executive positions at the Bank of California, HomeFed Bank, and Bank of America and also served as the senior vice president and regional administrator for Scripps Bank of La Jolla with similar responsibilities at U.S. Bank and San Diego Trust Bank. He recently retired as the president of San Diego Food Bank.

Gino Mazzanti, General Counsel

Gino Mazzanti is an attorney who has been in private practice with the Law Offices of Gino V. Mazzanti in San Diego since 1977. His practice concentrates in the field of business law where he is engaged in forming and advising partnerships, corporations (both for profit and not for profit) and limited liability companies.
